Does the oil separate from the dessert?

We are aware of some social media posts that have been circulating, showing our Kwality Wall’s products in a state that does not reflect our high standards of quality. These posts depict our products stored outside the recommended conditions, leading to melting and phase separation

The separation seen in these videos is a result of improper storage conditions. When the ice cream or frozen dessert products are not kept at the correct temperature, they can lose their structure and separate. The liquid at the bottom, often misrepresented as oil, is a mixture of water, sugar, protein, and fat. This is a natural occurrence when the product is not stored as recommended.

What you need to know:

Ice creams and frozen desserts have a complex structure comprising ice, air, and fat, which is maintained by keeping them at sub-zero temperatures. If left at room temperature for extended periods, these products can melt and curdle, separating into milk solids and liquids that may appear as a yellowish watery residue. This yellowish liquid is mostly water with dissolved ingredients, sugar, protein, fat, etc., and should not be mistaken for palm oil. This is similar to how milk curdles and separates if not stored properly.

Is there a difference between Frozen Desserts and Ice Cream?

Yes. While both ice cream and frozen dessert certainly contain milk/milk solids, the main difference between the two is in the source of fat. Frozen desserts use vegetable oil in place of milk fat, which actually makes Frozen Desserts responsibly delicious as it has much lower saturated fat content and is trans-fat free!

How is Vanaspati different from Vegetable Oil?

Kwality Wall’s primarily uses Vegetable oil as the source of fat in its frozen dessert range to deliver products with better nutrition profile and great taste to consumers. In fact, owing to the use of vegetable oil, Kwality Wall’s frozen dessert range typically has much lower saturated fat and is trans-fat free as compared to Ice Creams.

Are Frozen Desserts unhealthy?

Frozen Desserts can certainly be enjoyed as an occasional treat as part of a responsibly delicious balanced diet and active lifestyle. It is important to highlight that Kwality Wall’s products follow strict nutrition benchmarks laid out by Unilever. These are Unilever’s Highest Nutritional Standards (which are based on globally recognized dietary guidelines) with which the Kids’ portfolio (Paddle Pop range) complies with as well as stringent nutrition commitments for the rest of the Desserts range developed for Adults.

Why do you call Kwality Wall’s Products healthier?

Kwality Wall’s offers responsibly delicious dessert options as compared to Ice Creams due to the comparatively lower content of saturated fats (owing to use of vegetable oil) and the fact that they are trans-fat free!
100% of our children’s edible ice/frozen dessert ‘Paddle Pop’ portfolio contains 110 kilocalories or fewer per portion. We have responsibly designed our kids’ portfolio to have fun tastes, textures, shapes and colours, while also adhering to our strict nutrition criteria. Our entire kids range contains no more than – 110 kcal per serving, 3g saturated fat per serving and 20g of added sugar per 100g/100ml.
As of 2017, 97% of our packaged ice cream/frozen dessert products do not exceed 250 kilocalories per portion*.
For calorie conscious consumers, we have developed ‘Magnum Mini’ and ‘Cornetto Mini’ which allows them to indulge in the pleasure of Magnum & Cornetto, but in a smaller portion size. A reduction in portion size is a reduction in calories consumed!

They are delicious products and make for a treat your kids will love. Are Kwality Wall’s desserts more fattening than the other dessert options?
